Board Member Opportunity (unpaid)

The Board of Directors supports the mission of the Delhi Campus Child Care Center Inc.(DC4) and provides leadership and strategic governance. While day-to-day operations are led by the Director of DC4, the Board and DC4 Director relationship is a partnership, and the appropriate involvement of the Board is both critical and expected. Specific Board Member responsibilities include:

Leadership, Governance & Oversight

  • Serving as a trusted advisor to the Director in an effort to fulfill DC4’s mission
  • Reviewing outcomes and metrics for evaluating impact and regularly measuring its performance and effectiveness using those metrics
  • Reviewing and approving DC4’s annual budget, audit reports, and material business decisions; being informed of, and meeting all, legal and fiduciary responsibilities
  • Contributing to an annual performance evaluation of the DC4 Director
  • Assisting the Director and other Board Members in identifying and recruiting additional Board Members
  • Partnering with the Director and other Board Members to ensure that Board resolutions are carried out
  • Serving on committees or task forces and taking on special assignments
  • Representing DC4 to stakeholders and acting as an ambassador for the organization
  • Ensuring DC4’s commitment to a diverse Board and staff that reflects the communities served

Board Member Service

The Board of Directors meets 8 times per year typically on the 3rd Thursday of the month at 3pm in the  DC4 conference room. Service on the DC4 Board of Directors is without remuneration.

Board Meeting Schedule

Monthly board meetings are scheduled for the months of January, March, April, May, June, August, October, and November.

  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility and reliability
  • Diplomatic skills and a natural affinity for cultivating relationships and persuading, convening, facilitating, and building consensus among diverse individuals

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior business experience with state licensure such as NYSED and OCFS
  • Business experience with non-profit organizations
  • Track record of professional community leadership in business, government, philanthropy, or the non-profit sector
